Terms of Use

Last updated: July 20, 2026

These terms govern your use of Penna. By creating an account, you agree to them.

This is a draft prepared ahead of launch and is subject to legal review before Penna is publicly available.

Eligibility

You must be at least 17 years old to use Penna. We verify this using the birth date you provide at sign-up, and it cannot be changed afterward without contacting support.

Acceptable use

Penna is a space for genuine correspondence. When using the app, you agree not to:

These rules are also shown in the app as our Community Guidelines, which you're asked to accept during onboarding.

Your content

You own the letters, profile content, and other material you create in Penna ("your content"). By posting or sending it through the app, you grant us a license to store, transmit, and display it as needed to operate the service — for example, delivering a letter to its recipient, or showing an open letter in the Discovery feed if you choose to post one there. We don't sell your content or use it for anything beyond operating and improving Penna.

Moderation & enforcement

We review content that's reported for violating these terms or our Community Guidelines. Depending on severity, we may:

Accumulating multiple strikes within a short period results in an automatic temporary suspension. Content that appears to involve illegal activity may be escalated immediately and reported to the relevant authorities, bypassing the steps above.

Subscriptions (Penna Plus)

Penna Plus is an optional paid subscription that removes ads and unlocks additional features. Where offered, subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, renew automatically until cancelled, and can be cancelled at any time — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Pricing is shown in the app and store listing before purchase.

Disclaimer & limitation of liability

Penna is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep the service reliable and safe, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we're not responsible for the content or conduct of other users. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Penna is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

Governing law

The governing law and jurisdiction for these terms will be specified here following legal review, prior to public launch.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Penna evolves. If we make a material change, we'll update the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
